When I start telling friends about my plan of making a photoshoot in Centro, the center of São Paulo, everyone seems to warn me about the area. People get robbed, kidnapped, that show their cameras, phones, watches and laptops, they say. I rethink my plan and come to the conclusion that I´ll need to face my fear and work the way I used to, everywhere I´ve been so far. I also decide to use it as a topic of the series and I find it even more ironic, to shoot people while I ask them, how they would react when someone points a gun on them.
Even if you really feel a tension in Centro I can finally say, I am not afraid of Centro. I did not get robbed or anything else. But for sure, I would have sacrifized my camera in case someone would have pointed a gun on me, but not without making a last photo.
